Westminster Canterbury Sitting Outside 1Westminster Canterbury in Daytona Beach, formerly Louttit Manor, became a member of Westminster Communities of Florida on April 17, 2008. As a faith-based, not-for-profit organization, Westminster Communities of Florida will preserve the long-time mission and ministry of the community, which had been sponsored by the Episcopal Church.

Westminster Communities of Florida brings its extensive resources and experience in community management to Westminster Canterbury. It has allocated $2.2 million for immediate improvements. This will include an extensive safety program, providing installation of fire sprinklers and improvements to air conditioning and lighting, elevator modernization, as well as new carpeting and other décor enhancements.

Westminster Canterbury Meeting 1The Reverend James D. Taylor, past-president of the Louttit Manor board, says, "As rector of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, I am very pleased that Westminster Communities of Florida will continue the ministry of housing for the elderly, which began over 42 years ago by the Episcopal Church. We offer our support and prayers for Westminster Canterbury and its commitment to honor each person's dignity, rights, self respect, and independence."

Westminster Canterbury provides subsidized and market-rate efficiencies and one-bedroom apartments for low income elderly.
